RGNT Motorcycles pushes the boundaries of EV motorcycling

– Swedish motorcycle company aims to beat the World Speed Record on Ice for EV-motorcycles with project Aurora.

Since they were founded in 2019, Swedish electric motorcycle manufacturer RGNT has been operating at the forefront of the global EV motorcycle realm. Now again the ambitious brand aims to push new boundaries. And what better place for a native Swedish motorcycle brand to do that, than a frozen Swedish lake? On the weekend of 24/25 February, RGNT aims to set the World Record. During the SMA Svenska Motorsport Alliansen sanctioned and licensed Speed Weekend in Årsunda, Sweden, RGNT-engineer Timmy Eriksson will race a modified RGNT No. 1 Classic SE, aiming to break the current electric motorcycle speed record on ice.

Start small, think big
The RGNT Ice Racer project, named Aurora, was initiated by a small group of RGNT employees, working out their plans on evenings and weekends. The team wanted the bike to not only perform great but also look great. As the magnitude and ambition level of the project grew, it became backed up by the entire company. From design to R&D, production and from engineering to marketing; setting the World Speed Record on Ice is now a joint effort of the entire 40-employee company, supported by sponsors and partners like Hedon helmets, Petrol Industries, Etteplan, Qt Group, NIRA Dynamics, Sigma, Jjuan brake systems and HERE Technologies.

Thoroughbred EV racer
The record-setting motorcycle is an A1-certified RGNT No. 1 Classic SE production model. The engineering team has modified several components in the battery to maximize power output. Also, the software and power output of the drivetrain has been unlocked, resulting in a thoroughbred EV racer with a peak power of close to 30 kW (standard 21 kW). Based on several concept studies for a future RGNT racer model, a full aerodynamic lightweight fairing has been designed and built in-house, with an HMI race screen. The race-ready bike will weigh just under 160 kg and will roll on spike-studded tires. Besides the custom record chaser, the team will also race a fully standard RGNT No. 1 Scrambler SE production model, to set records for stock electric, and stock A1 electric motorcycles.

Join the fun
Friends, family, and enthusiasts who like the idea of an action-packed race weekend on ice, are invited to join the action. RGNT will host a team area where everyone is welcome for a chat, some fika, and a good look at the beautiful electric racer the team has built. Check landracing.events for more details. If you can’t make it to Årsunda, follow the team’s achievements on the RGNT social channels.

Aurora is a mystical and romantic name that means “dawn” in Latin. An aurora also refers to a natural light display in the Earth’s sky called the Aurora Borealis, or polar lights, visible only in high-latitude regions like the North and South Poles.
